Trinidad Robusto

The Trinidad Robusto is made by Tabacalera
A. Fuente in the Dominican Republic for the Trinidad family of Miami, Florida,
who have now secured the trademark in the US. Their father, Diego Trinidad,
who was the president of Trinidad y Hermano in Cuba registered the original
name and artwork with Cuban Office of Trademarks and Patents in March of
1958. After nearly 40 years of exile, the Trinidad family has reentered
the cigar trade in force with this cigar. This stick is a plump medium-full
bodied Cameroon wrapped robusto with tastes of cedar and spice at its core
and an underlying sweetness. The construction is top notch, and the finish
is loaded with the flavor of white pepper. I have smoked a lot of these
as my afternoon cigar lately, and consider this as a must try cigar for
all.

Punch Grand Cru
No. II

The newest release from General Cigars
recently acquired Punch line is the Punch Grand Cru No. II. This is a serious
box pressed torpedo with impeccable construction from cap to foot. Typically
I dislike Grand Crus as I find them somewhat hollow bodywise and grassy
in flavor, but the No. II is a real gem of a smoke. They deliver a well
balanced blend of coffee flavors that is smooth and delectable. The long
finish is simply delightful, and leaves me begging for more - definitely
a cigar deserving of your attention.

Henry Clay Largas

Presenting the Henry Clay Largas. Largas?
What the heck is this? That is what I said when I saw a box of them at JRs
in Whippany. These are lancero size, roughly 7 x 38, Connecticut shade wrapped
cigars. All of the other HCs are broadleaf wrapped and bundle pressed, but
not these toothpick shaped smokes. I couldn't resist buying a box, particularly
at $40 or so. Anyhow they turn out to be smoother than their fatter brothers
and possess a tamed spicy edge. They burn ever so slow for such a narrow
ring too. Not really a world class cigar, but definitely unique and well
worth sampling.

La Gianna Angelic
Selection Belabusto

I panned the shade wrapped stock La Gianna in the last
issue of the MOTT, but these Angelic Selection are a totally different story.
The dark Sumatran wrapper really gives this cigar life, and the Belabusto,
a fat stocky short torpedo, is a real pleasure to smoke. It is a medium
bodied cigar with distinct flavors of oak, hickory, and cedar. The finish
is long and creamy smooth - this is a definite finger burner! Needless to
say I really enjoyed this Nicaraguan cigar, and highly recommend it as a
must try stick!
