La
Luna Maduro Fuerte Tornâdo

Rarely will I recommend a cigar from a
small boutique manufacturer that has yet to be officially released,
but I am so impressed with the La Luna Maduro Fuerte Tornâdo
that I am genuinely anxious to talk about it. This oily dark
5 x 52 cuadrado pressed robusto is very aptly named because it
truly is a force of nature! Its dank and earthy flavor rushes
over the palate like a fully leaded demitasse of char roasted
Turkish coffee. Notes of pepper and sweet spice add to
the complex character of this very full-bodied blend. In its
youth, it packs a serious punch that leaves me dizzy and delighted,
and I have the expectation that this cigar should mature beautifully
for years to come. One caveat though, this vitola is absolutely
not for the novice as it is far too much of a cigar for
the inexperienced smoker. It is due to be released December of
this year, and I am anxious to buy a couple of boxes for myself
- I am hopeful the production cigars are of the caliber of the
samples. If so, the La Luna MF Tornâdo will be a "must
have" cigar for hardcore aficionados who crave an uninhibited
powerful smoke.

Ashton
Cabinet VSG Sorcerer

Being someone who had pretty much dismissed
the Ashton line of cigars as good, but too light for my personal
tastebuds I must admit this new offering caught me by surprise.
The Ashton Cabinet VSG Sorcerer comes wrapped in a beautiful
hand-selected sun grown Ecuadorian wrapper that is silky to the
touch. The prelight bouquet is tantalizing and the construction
is exceptional. This is a masterful blend that is intricate and
rich with so many different intertwined flavors that it is difficult
to distinguish the individual notes. The smoke is heavy and dense
against the palate. While the box insert claims this cigar has
the "kick of a mule" I find it to be a medium to full
body cigar that is incredibly smooth - a wonderfully sublime
balance of strength and flavor. This is a world class cigar and
certainly on the best yet blended by Carlito Fuente. The Ashton
Cabinet VSG Sorceror is well deserving of space in any connoisseur's
humidor.

Flor
de Copan Robusto

The Flor de Copan Robusto is like one of
those sleeper movies that you seldom hear about, but once you
see it you ask yourself, "How come no one ever told me about
this great flick?" Well let me be the first to tell of this
forgotten cigar... It is a well made 5 x 50 parejo blended from
Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos. It has a great burn, smooth
draw, rich aroma, and the smoke is dense and rich with just the
right amount of bite. This robusto is a good solid Honduran cigar
which will satisfy most smokers who prefer heavier bodied sticks.
And you get all this for less than $3.50 each. This is one of
the best cigars that Consolidated has made in recent history,
yet they seem to be allowing it to languish by not promoting
it to the public or tobacconists very well. They spend zillions
trying to advertise so-so cigars, yet here they have a great
new cigar for a rapidly growing segment of the market and they
don't even seem to be giving it a fighting chance. Well I will
promote it: If you are a looking for a good solid heavy cigar
at a fair price I highly recommend you give the Flor de Copan
Robusto a try.
