Smoking Saka

I have smoked a tremendous number of different cigars over the years as part of my daily routine. Many are new cigars that others wish for me to sample and assess, and honestly most are ho-hum smokes. Every once in awhile though, I come across a cigar that I find to be real joy to smoke and I add it my rotation along with my old time favorites. Below are three cigars that I consider worthwhile - some are new, while others are time tested veterans. I can not promise you will like them all, but I regard each as fine cigar well worth your sampling. I offer them as smokable suggestions.

Moore & Bode Miami Corona

Padron Anniversary Imperial

Punch Rothschilds Double Maduro

Moore & Bode Miami Corona

I have spent many mornings enjoying a Moore & Bode Miami Corona along with my first cup of espresso. This 6" x 46 ring cigar is physically closer to a corona gorda in size rather than a corona as implied by its name. Its construction is impeccable with a slow cool burn and a perfect draw. The smoke is a dense creamy blend of mocha and caramel which proves that full flavor can be achieved without any tobacco bite whatsoever. It offers the smoker a richness in flavor that is seldom accomplished in such a mild blend. This refined cigar is a tribute to cigar smoking elegance, and is one of my personal favorite mild cigars. I highly recommend this as a "must try" smoke.

Padron Anniversary Imperial

Padron Cigars has introduced a new size to their ultra-premium Anniversary line called the "Imperial." Measuring 6" x 54 this is a big box pressed corona gorda which now becomes their widest cigar to date. Originally, they were only released in Maduro wrapper, but Natural wrapped ones are expected to be hitting tobacconist's shelves soon. I find it to be a very smooth smoke that delivers a huge volume of smoke on the palate. As a result of its larger ring size, its strength is tempered considerably when compared to the the smaller sizes of the line. Of course, this can be considered a plus or a minus depending on your personal tastes. Regardless, I find it to be a very enjoyable smoke, and consider it one that is well worth sampling!

Punch Rothschilds Double Maduro

If you don't know about this cigar then I am pleased to have the pleasure of introducing it to you. The Punch Rothschilds Double Maduro is possibly the best handmade cigar value on the market. Even with recent boom driven price increases, this mainstay smoke remains priced economically at roughly $2.60 each. Although they are not always picture perfect, they have solid construction and consistently provide a good draw with an even burn. The best part is that this cigar is chocked full of rich earthy Honduran flavor with a hint of sweetness in the finish. These are an excellent daily smoke for the premium cigar smoker who is budget conscious. A great taste at a great price!
